Kampuchea is the name of a state controlled by the Khmer Rouge between 1975 and 1979, which has ruled the Southeast Asian country of Cambodia. It was formed when the Khmer Rouge forces defeated Khmer Republic of Lon Nol. After losing control of most of the territory under the Vietnamese occupation of the state have survived as China's state-backed shadow. In June 1982, the Khmer Rouge created the Coalition Government with the two non-communist guerrilla groups which have been internationally recognized.
